Coastal Scents *dances*
Friday, December 19, 2008 @ 5:55 PM
I had heard nothing but good things about them, had done my research and all but it took some time cause I knew that the order would be rather large and expensive.
I decided to go ahead with it when they had their sale on everything on Dec. 1st.
I got almost everything I was after, the only things they were out of was their black gel eyeliner and some little jars with a square base I wanted for my broken eyeshadows and whatnot.
I hope to do swatches of all of this in the future.
It is a pretty big task to take on considering all the colors :P

Reviews:
88 Palettes- Amazing quality and amazing colors! The pans are small but you only have to use a little so they will last quite a while.
Neutral Palette- Should be a staple in pretty much all makeup lover's collections, it definitely is in mine. Pigmented colors, ranging from whitest white to blackest black. Mixture of finishes.
Contour and Blush Palette- Holy crap the size of those things! The pans are as a powder compact (not just the pan in the compact but the compact itself.) Super pigmented so it'll last forever. Some of the contouring shades can be tricky to work with at first but pretty cool once you get the hang of it. Main trick is the heaviness and lightness of application. ALWAYS start out with a light hand, much easier to add than remove.
Blush Palette- Great variety of colors, pretty good size and the pigmentation is very nice. Even if theres a color that you don't like, theres guaranteed to be at least one that you do.
Glitter- I have yet to play with this much sadly. I did however get a little on my hand when storing it in my makeup drawer and its very fine and not scratchy. Awesome colors and the samples they give you are rather large.
Gel Liners- Loooove these! Such pretty pigmented colors and they go on so smooth. They dry fast and stay in place too. No downsides about 'em.
Brushes- I love them both so far. I had been looking for a great eyeliner brush forever, I decided to go for 2 kinds to up my chances of ending up with one I loved. They are both soft on the skin but they are just stiff enough to control the eyeliner easily.
Jars- Most of their jars come with optional/removable sifters which is pretty cool. They seem to run a little small though. I originally got the 5 gram ones for my broken eyeshadows and glitters but they are pretty small. Seem like they would be good on the go lipgloss maybe? I ended up using the 20 gram I think it was for my broken Revlon eyeshadow I got the other day.
Overall I am super happy with it all. Palettes are my weakness when it comes to makeup. I love the convenience and awesomness of them XD
annnd I am happy to say none of them were broken! ^^ They packed everything really well, I was pretty impressed.
So if you're thinking of trying out Coastal Scents I would definitely recommend it. You get so much for what you pay.

Mini Avon Order
@ 4:50 PM
They still had free shipping so I thought why not, it's be perfect to protect it when its in my bag, plus its all silvery :P
Of course I couldn't just limit it to that single item haha.
I ended up getting their Beyond Color Love Your Lips exfoliation kit in Neutral (an extra, had already ordered one in the previous haul)
All 4 of their seasonal lip balms as 69 cents each. Thought they'd be a fun way to stay in the holiday mood and keep mah lips soft.
annnd since I am still relatively new to mark. I decided to try their Juice Gems lipgloss since it was on sale. I got it in Juicy Cassis.
That way, since the next one will be pretty big, it'll be less to squish together in 1 post.
Lip kit- I like it quite a bit, if for no other reason, the lip colors. You have to use quite a bit of the exfoliator to feel a difference so...meh. The lip conditioner is great though and you barely have to use any for it to have an effect. The lip colors are smooth and pigmented. I honestly wasn't very picky in ordering these due to the fact that they were $1.29 each.
Lip balms- Cute packaging, neat scents. I like that they have somewhat of a tint to them, especially the red. The slight downside is the scent, funny enough being the reason I got them, can be overpowering at times. Not something I'd use constantly due to that but I didn't intend to anyway :P
Lip gloss in Juicy Cassis- Luf it <3 style="font-size:85%;">
Discount Mini Haul/Swatches
Thursday, December 18, 2008 @ 5:35 PM
I can giggle about it now but I was a wee bit pissed that night lol
Typed up everything and it all went bye bye when I hit the publish button.
Anywho onto the post.
Days ago I made a trip to Bealls originally going after some nice heeled boots and ended up with a bit of a haul.
I came out with:
Sally Hansen/LA Cross Amazing Eyes Kit which includes-Tweezers, Eyebrow grooming wand/Eyelash comb,Eyebrow trimmer, Travel eyelash curler, Dual pencil sharpener and the cutest little case to put it all in.
(I actually use the case to carry around my little necessities in my purse <3
The Revlon set is awesome for the price. All items in the kit go on pretty sheer but are buildable.
Revon Cream Eyeliners go on smooth and are decently pigmented. Mine stayed put and so far I havent had any trouble with them.
Bath and Body Works pencil liners go on smooth as well and are very pigmented. Fun metallic colors.
L'Oreal Colour Stack has 5 shades of red that are bright but can be applied lightly for a slight stain look or layered for a pow of color.
Maybelline Face Brush is awesome. So big and fluffy that I mainly use it after I finish I makeup to lightly brush off any little bits of fallout and whatnot. This is my...I'm wanting to say 3rd Maybelline brush and I love all of them.
Overall nice little collection of the day and all of it was so cheap. Most expensive of the items listed above was the Revlon Mineral Collection which was $10.99. Everything else was 3.99 or cheaper.
Annnnd now for the reason I went in the first place ^^
I ended up finding the p.e.r.f.e.c.t. boots! I grabbed those right away and a cute pair of heals (in what I thought was a size 8, which would have been way too big for me anyway XD Ever try to get away with attempting to force a shoe to be your size when it is definitly not? lol)
Anyway, grabbed both and tried them on. Boots fit like gloves and are just awesome. The heals of course made me look like a floppy footed clown T_T
So, bummed, I picked them up and put them back in their section (size 8.5 is what they ended up being haha).
Then headed over to grab the box for my boots and then there they were, the size 7 clones of the shoe I had so desperately tried to make fit my feet ^^
I am now happy owner of both pairs <3
Boots ended up being $14.99 and the shoes were $17.99 =3
I always feel guilty spending money in general but every girl has to have some heals and sexy boots right? :P

Avon Swatches/Semi FOTD
Thursday, December 11, 2008 @ 1:14 PM
Been a bit busy and ended up doing a little unplanned discount makeup shopping trip in town so I've had a good bit to swatch and prepare for posting.
All the stuff taken out of the box:
I was so excited when it arrived. I've gotten Avon stuff before but very few things and had never tried mark.
I ordered the mark. Serious Case of Glam . It's the best way to try out all kinds of their products all in one bag.
Serious Case of Glam contents:
Sydney Flip for It Fall Kit- Natural, earthy colors great for all skintones.
Glow Xpert face shimmer in Champagne Glow- Color is accurate to the name. Creamy liquid shimmer perfect for highlighting or mixing with foundation for an all over glow.
Liquid Eyeliner/Mascara hook-up- Eyeliner in Medusa (Dark greyish brown) & Mascara in Blacklash
Bonus hook-up connectors (^for said 'hook-up'^)
5 Limited Edition mini brushes- Great size brushes especially for on the go use. All 5 are labeled for convenience.
Brushed include: Blush, Concealer, Eyeshadow, Eyeliner, & Lipcolor.
and finally an adorable little red satin make-up bag with silver glitter detail to store it all in.

Serious Case of Glam swatches:Avon Satin Deluxe Eyeshadow in 'Sandstorm'
Avon Light & Luminous Face Highlighter in 'Warm Shimmers'
Avon Big Lip Color Pencil in 'Pink Champagne'
Avon 5-in-1 Portable Nail File
The face highlighter has such pretty colors but beware a little bit goes a looong way. Adds a nice warmth to your face and blends well.
The lip color pencil is nice and smooth to apply. The color is pretty pigmented but can go on sheer with a light hand. I really like the color, however, I was expecting more of a champagne (hence the name) but it looks like more of a rose when applied.
Finally, my handy dandy nail file ^^ I love this thing.
The one I had in my purse prior to this ended up so worn out since the surface was exposed to my everyday item shuffling in my bag. The Avon one has 5 sides, all with different purposes, and slides closed just like a paper fan. The surfaces are protected and it takes up very little space, can even be attached to a key chain.
All in all I am very happy with my purchase. So happy that just a few days after getting all of it in the mail, I ordered more from the site. Lots of stuff on sale so it'll be a larger haul but won't be here for a few days so hopefully I can catch up on stuff in that time.
(Few somewhat fotd pix using the warm shimmer illuminating highlighter, sandstorm e/s and my new NYC lipstick Cafe)

Wasn't going for anything extravagant due to not having much time.
Ended up liking the color combo a lot, sadly it didn't show up as bold on cam and I didn't have time to fidget with the settings.
(Also please disregard the fact that my nose is without coverage. During winter it loves to peel and putting foundation on it tends to just make it look worse T_T)
The e/s in the 2nd pic is truer to the color.
Eyes
Ulta 'Elegance' all over lid
Ulta 'Flirty' around crease
Ulta 'Mystical' in crease
Ulta 'Silk' as a highlight
BareMinerals Liner Shadow in 'Blue Black'
Covergirl Lashblast Mascara in 'Very Black'
WetnWild brow pencil in 'Taupe'
Lips
Ulta gloss in 'Whisper'
Face
Maybelline Age Rewind concealer in 'Light'
Maybelline Age Rewind foundation in 'Porcelain Ivory' (highlight foundation)
Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse foundation in 'Classic Ivory' (contour foundation)
WetnWild All Over Shimmer powder as a shimmer hightlight
----------------------------------------------
After work my boyfriend and I made a trip to WalMart to pick up a limited edition Xbox 360 controller I ordered online and had shipped site to store. <3<3<3<3<3>

While there I decided to look around at lipcolor for a true red.
I have one that I love by Clinique but I want something a little more of a deep pin-up girl red and not so glossy.
NYC just happens to make the perfect one called Retro Red. Prior to purchasing I had looked up a few reviews and heard nothing but good things. The pic isn't the best but I wanted to test it with my skintone

Also picked up a few others. Weren't exactly what I was looking for but very neat colors.
Tokyo-a-Pink-Pink isn't shimmery like in the pic, it's a cream.
Cafe is a nice sheer beige/light bronze shimmer.
Cherry Frost is a cute shimmery hot pinkish red, tons of color.
Ruby is a sheer but very sparkly berry red.
Retro Red is a true red with no shimmer.

Ulta Swatches
@ 11:31 AM
Was my first time actually being inside one lol Sad I know.
I was unaware until recently that there was one so close by.
Anywho, back to the point. I not only grabbed 2 eyeshadows for $5 but I got the 65 piece Blockbuster Set.
I thought since the makeup I recently ordered shouldn't be here for a few days that I'd just go ahead and swatch the set I got as the first makeup post.
The case comes in black, white or pink.

Most of the eyeshadows are shimmery, some more than others, except Naked & Wisteria Lane which are matte.
They can be a bit powdery but they go on really smooth and the color payoff is nice.
Notes- on the shimmer powders, they are more of a fine glitter rather than a shimmer but still cute.
Deep Sea is a much richer color than it appeared. The camera washed it out for some reason.
and the 2 lipglosses Princess and Goddess, they are really pretty colors but go on really sheer so they were hard to capture on cam.
Overall a very good case with a little bit of everything. Great for those new to makeup, those looking to experiment with new colors and those, like me, that wanted to try out a variety of Ulta products so I can pick some faves to get in full size.
Whew, that was a lot of work XD
I'm still adjusting to my new camera I got on Black Friday so hopefully next time I will be more used to the features and the quality will be consistent.

Intro to the makeup blogs to come <3
@ 10:23 AM
I am self taught and have been an avid makeup lover since I was little.
Started in diapers rummaging through my sister's makeup (which she just loved btw XD)
Early middle school I got the green light to start wearing it regularly.
Makeup beginners start out on mainly nudes and unnoticeable colors but I couldn't settle for that for long.
I got my first kit for christmas back then and have been practicing and trying new things ever since.
Fast forward to today, I have a somewhat overflowing makeup storage that I can't seem to stop adding to *blushes* lol.
I don't spend crazy amounts of money on my habit however. I mainly use things you can find at Walmart, drugstores, etc. with the occasional order online.
I stick to those mainly because of affordability and easy access but I also believe its not the price or popularity of a product but what is done with it.
After all, makeup is a form of art, creativity and skill is what makes it great.
Anywho, I pretty much added this blog in hopes of being able to help browsers with similar interests.
& if theres ever any questions, comments, or suggestions I'd be more than happy to read and answer 'em.
<3
(Note- A few of the following blogs will be posted all in one day. I did them over a period of a few days but had them posted on my main blog, so they will be copied and pasted. I decided to make a separate home for all things makeup once I realized just how much there was to post about it :P)
